What’s been happening?

Posted in Mini-Album, Mink15, on the web, Spookydirt on December 23, 2011 by Andy

What’s been happening? Not a lot, lately.

Since the burst of activity in the summer (where they covered a couple of Gavin Clark songs), Mink15 have been working on an acoustic EP, for which they have finished four songs already. There is also a nice new Mink15 home page, if you haven’t seen it.

Spookydirt also had a productive year, and is now taking a break. Check out his collection of probability-based ambient music at spookydirt’s bandcamp page.

Eta Carinae

By the time you read this Eta Carinae should be live on many download stores including Emusic, Amazon and CDbaby.

Eagle-eyed persons will have noticed that the artwork has changed. Slightly.

New Music Page

Posted in Cotterill & Kearns, Far Black Furlong, Mink15, Spookydirt, Web Stuff with tags , , , , on April 4, 2010 by Andy

I’ve made a music page for Box of Woks on Bandcamp – I love Bandcamp! – collecting all of the music we have released on one handy webpage. Go here to have a look at it, and click through to the band sites and have a good listen.

There will hopefully be a new release from Mink15 soon, a single that is in the final stages of mixing. It’s going to be good, honest. Don’t hold your breath, but we may well soon be getting a new album by Cotterill & Kearns, but not Cotterill & Kearns. If that makes any sense.

Far Black Furlong releases are augmented by their full-length ‘Far Black Furlong’ album, which is out via ICR and not us. Check it out anyway.

New Spookydirt Pricing

Posted in Spookydirt, Uncategorized with tags , , , , on January 4, 2010 by Andy

We’ve changed the pricing of Spookydirt’s catalogue at the Spookydirt Store (but not at other shops like Amazon, Emusic, etc). It now goes l ike this:

Dark Flow – £1.00

Fake Universe – £2.00

Hotei Arcus – £FREE

Flux Rope – £FREE

Cosmotourism – £3.00

I think you’ll agree that these are still bargains, especially the free ones.

A short track I did on saturday between 6pm and 7:30 (which is when I got ready to go to the pub to meet my chums)

There is a download button on the player if you’d like to keep a copy to play later.

Why not check out Spookydirt’s Soundcloud page for more things like this?

‘Cosmotourism’ by Spookydirt (Box 006)

Posted in Spookydirt with tags , , , , , , , on July 6, 2009 by Andy

Cosmotourism‘ has finally been released into the wild, after what I think might be 2 years. I can’t really explain why it has taken me so long, although there was that week earlier this year when I lost the master files. That was quite distressing. And then there were all those extra tracks that made the album about 90 minutes long. And the extra tracks that weren’t all that good. And I had to change the titles for some tracks, because they were just so bad.

I think the main reason it took me so long to get ‘Cosmotourism’ finished is because I wanted it to be perfect. It isn’t, of course. Nothing is. Perfection is in itself, a flaw. But as far as albums of ambient space music go, this is pretty darn good. But I would say that, wouldn’t I.

Listen to the album on the player (above) or wait for it to arive on iTunes, Amazon, Emusic and places like that. If you get really impatient, you can purchase the HQ-MP3 version using the link on the player for only €6, or even get a lower quality version for free.

New Spookydirt release – ‘Hotei Arcūs’

Hotei Arcūs

The latest Spookydirt release ‘Hotei Arcūs’ is now for sale at emusic for just one download credit.

It can also be purchased from iTUNES

Amazon customers can buy it HERE for just 69p

You can buy it from Amie Street also, if you are that way inclined. At the moment, that is the cheapest way to get it – $0.15, although this may go up soon.

If you’re doing a search for it on the web, you’re better off typing spookydirt rather than the title, as most stores show it as ‘Hotei Arc?s’ because I used a ‘ū’ when I could’ve just used anormal ‘u’ and that would have been ok. For some reason Emusic shows the correct characters, as does Amie Street. I’ll know for next time, eh?

Box 006 – Spookydirt ‘Dark Flow’

That’s right, yet another Spookydirt release Dark Flow is out now for FREE (128kbs) or CHEAP (other formats)

This is part 2 of the 4 releases planned for this year from Spookydirt.

Listen to the mesmerising ambient space music on the player and then go and grab the files (MP3, OGG, FLAC, whatever format you like) from http://spookydirt.boxofwoks.com/

This is probably going to be the way things go with Spookydirt from now on – free 128kbs download, very inexpensive FLAC, 320kbs, OGG, etc downloads.
